High end EL84 based amp makers

I have two topic requests:

(0) Picks!  You've covered this a bit in the past but I think it merits more attention.  Perhaps a shootout running the gamut from high-end picks like Red Bears to pedestrian Dunlops and all points in between.

(1) Low-end jazz boxes.  Ibanez, Gretch, etc. have lines of surprisingly inexpensive hollowbodies these days.  But are they any good?

How about John Suhr guitars??

1.  More interviews with luthier's.  How did they get into building, do they have a specific tone in mind when building, what woods they prefer and why.  Earvin Somogyi, Bruce Sexauer, Bruce Petros, Jim Olson, Julius Borges, Ed Claxton, T. J Thompson to name a few.

2.  Interviews with players about their guitars - is it just a tool, will any guitar do?  What specific requirements do they have in a guitar?  What do the prefer and why in wood, scale length, style, size, tone, neck profile, string action and gauge, etc.

3.  Acoustic amps - what's available for the acoustic guitarist who wants to keep the acoustic sound, but amplified.

Where have you guys been? Missed listening to your podcasts while driving. You podcasts are the best I've found.

How about discussing recording on the computer?

Comparison of modeling vs tube amps?

Dumble clones?

Thanks,
Steve
I am getting with-drawls waiting for another podcast!!!

My Topic suggestion:

How much is too much? Even if someone was wealthy (and assuming they had a reasonable connection with reality), at what point would a price make a person wince and say "that's ridiculous"?

$500 for an overdrive pedal? $100,000 for a guitar? $50 for a pick? We all have our threshold- what's yours?

I like this thought as well....

Hey Steve,

Sorry to have taken a bit of a break. My wife and youngest daughter were in a terrible wreck a couple of months ago, which sucked up a bunch of time, and Matt has been slammed at work. We are back at it, and are working on editing more interviews from the Nashville Guitar Show. When we get those aired, we will go back to our regular episodes. Andy Fuchs from Fuchs amps was there, and Matt did a great interview. He makes a wonderful Dumble-esque amp. Thanks for the email and your interest.

derek
